Taking it day by day: Random thoughts II

Random thoughts II

In this age where image seems to be everything, I think some people are taking it a huge bit too far. Almost everyone wants the latest clothes, no matter the price – some would rather wallow in debt than not have the latest Gucci, Prada etc shoe that some celebrity chick was wearing. Kids nowadays are getting that fever, and it is not just the labels, the bling and such, it is getting worse – cosmetic surgery is becoming the in thing.

There is a sixteen (16) year old girl who went for liposuction. At 16, my mind was not on such things – by then I was in form 2, in boarding school, feeling miserable cause the diet was horrible. I do not know how many of you had been considering cosmetic surgery then, I just know my mind was not in that area.

This chick’s mum paid for her liposuction…about three thousand euros. And she is not even batting an eyelid. I am not a mother, but the day my 16 year old will come to me and tell me she wants some liposuction, God forbid…. I will slap the dumbness away. The girl weighs less than 60kgs, and there is absolutely no need for such crap, but since the daughter wants, the mummy has to cough up the monies so that the daughter is satisfied. A few days after surgery, the friends come to see her and they stand in front of a mirror oooohhhing and aaaaahing say how slender the thighs look. Aren’t thighs supposed to be fleshy?

This same girl has undergone cosmetic surgery before, when she was 14-15 to correct her nose. Now I am left wondering what kind of values this woman is trying to instil in her daughter. Isn’t she just cementing that foolish notion in the kid’s mind that image is everything? The next thing that is coming is a boob job, then a face lift, then … why the craziness?!

haha that is a joke!! 3,000 euros on what? Excuse me, you can do chores or get a job to pay for your little behind to go to the gym if you seriously feel like you need lipo...alternatively, run around the darn house a few times! Her young body is still growing. It doesn't need surgery that is so not necessary! Her mum should be sued!

Liposuction at 16 is taking it way too far! I mean that can only be cute baby fat which will go away anyway People just have to accept that no one is perfect nor will ever be. But I don't expect that misguided girl to stop at that so I'm sure that Boobjob, tummy tuck, facelift etc are on the way by the time she is fifty she should be as plastic looking as MJ or ridge forester YUCK!

i blame the mother. not for the child picking up the idea, that can happen today (though that's bad enough). but for not discouraging her child and even worse for paying for the procedure. she chould have at least forced her to wait till she can pay for it on her own. though i imainge such a kid gets more pocket money than some of us earn...

That is just the wrong message to the child. For her 21st what will be on the agenda? Breast augmentation? Honestly some people!

this doesn't shock me. My own cousin (she grew up here) had lipo, thighs and all reduced. In fact, I went with her to the doki to c for myself (of course I had tried talking her out of it, bilas) anyways, she wanted her butt reduced.. and she doesn't even have one, and the doki was going to do it, it was even his suggestion, and I said, "don't be ridiculous", so they left the butt alone.... Makes me wonder what she thinks of my body, I am actually considered skinny by Kenyan standards, but I am "fatter" than she wasb4 surgery.... very sickening this society.... .

It’s a shame that parents are allowing this to go on. I think at some point governments will demand certain procedures not to be carried out on under 18’s.

@ aegus, it is already happening – parents are giving ‘breast implants’ as b-day presents to their 16 and 18 yr olds.

I think I will do all the same.
One question though, if you have breat implants at 16 alafu when you hit 20something they decide to grow....just a thought!

This is the age of materialism. The mantra for those who have fallen prey is "more and better". Not even our bodies are being spared by this unrelentless wave. As sad as some of the lengths people go to "improve" their appearance, I really wonder if anything can be done, or whether it's something the world will have to evolve out of ...

Dunia haieleweki.Instead of working on the girls inside they are just renovating the façade. Does that really make her happy? coz she will still munch the mcdonalds, she will still see the skinny chicks on the runway.
Farmgal, I really dont know what happens when the boobs decide to grow after one has been 'siliconized'. it would be very interesting to know.
